The Japanese Folk Art and Design Books are a beautiful visual catalogue of the intricate craftsmanship and traditions of Japan’s folk art. The series includes 4 volumes, each delving into a specific aspect of Japanese folk art. Volume 1 documents items from the daily life of merchants in the Edo period (1603-1868) including sign board designs, business instruments such as portable inkstands and everyday utensils like folding spectacles or casks for sake. All four volumes are available to purchase separately. There is wear to the cardboard slipcase and sleeve, but internally is very good.
